I'm Tobi Amure, a finance & technology journalist. For seven years I've written for publications that move money conversations (Forbes, Inc., TheStreet, Investopedia, Punch) and built a freelance practice on the same stablecoin and multi-currency rails I report on.
From markets desk to freelance desk.
I started in 2018 covering personal finance and emerging markets for Nigerian national press. By 2021 I was reporting on how remote workers were earning foreign currency: a story that sat at the intersection of labour, fintech, and macro policy.
That intersection became my beat. In 2022 I wrote an explainer on crypto wallets for Investopedia that ranked #1 on Google and won a Featured Snippet. In 2023 I joined TheStreet's markets desk to cover earnings season on Big Tech and AI. In 2024 I began contributing to Forbes, writing investing comparisons and macro framing pieces.
The whole time I ran a freelance business that invoices in stablecoins, holds multi-currency balances, and pays contractors across borders. I don't just report on fintech. I use it to stay profitable. That practical fluency shows up in the copy: fewer buzzwords, more mechanics.
